About Johannesburg

Johannesburg (also called Jozi or Jo'burg) was born a little over 120 years ago with the discovery of Gold in a farmland area named Witwatersrand after the white water springs that run through land and attribute to its beauteous landscapes. It's not just natural beauty but economic growth and rapid development of infrastructure as well that makes Johannesburg one of the most prosperous South African cities. Like most of South Africa, Jo'burg is free of Malaria and boasts of very hygienic conditions, including its tap water. Did you know?Johannesburg is sunniest in winters and in summers it has various lightening storms, which make for a splendid sight.

Oudtshoorn, a famous town in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, is located in the ecologically diverse region of Little Karoo or Klein Karoo. The largest town in the region, Oudtshoorn is also home to the world's largest ostrich population. This is because of the numerous specialized ostrich breeding farms in the area, such as the Safari Show Farm and the Highgate Ostrich Show Farm, most of which have existed since the 19th century. Today, Oudtshoorn is a town that relies principally on tourism, ostriches, and agriculture. The town is also famous for many other things, such as the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (Little Karoo National Arts Festival), which is South Africa's largest Afrikaans language arts festival. The production of the exceptional South African Port style wines in the surrounding regions also makes Oudtshoorn famous. Oudtshoorn has also recently become a hub for hot-air ballooning, and enthusiasts from all over the world come to see the regions natural beauty from high in the skies. The proximity of the mountains of the Swartberg Pass, which provide plenty of opportunity of treks, is also a famous part of the region. The area also has numerous limestone cliffs and outcrops, perfect for rock-climbing, and suitable for both beginners and experts. Last but not the least in the list of what makes Oudtshoorn famous are the Cango Caves, which are Precambrian limestone caves that stretch for many kilometres below the mountains of the Swartberg Pass.
